Shiraz is a Senior Associate in Turks' Employers Liability team, based in the Sydney office.
Shiraz practises in workers compensation, with experience advising on claims involving complex liability, statutory interpretation and dispute resolution issues. He regularly advises employers, insurers and self-insurers on liability assessment, claims strategy and the management of workers compensation disputes.
He acts for clients across a broad range of matters within the NSW workers compensation scheme and regularly appears in proceedings before the Personal Injury Commission. Shiraz supports clients through all stages of the claims process, providing practical and commercially focused advice that promotes timely, evidence-based decision-making and the efficient resolution of disputes.
Prior to joining Turks, Shiraz worked in-house within a national insurer's self-insurance team, where he managed a large portfolio of litigated and non-litigated workers compensation claims. This experience provided him with a strong understanding of claims assessment processes, the operational requirements of decision-makers and the practical challenges involved in managing time-critical matters.
Drawing on experience gained both in-house and in private practice, Shiraz delivers clear, pragmatic advice focused on achieving sustainable outcomes within the workers compensation framework.
