Peter is a Partner in Turks’ General Insurance team and leads the firm’s Brisbane office.
Peter has more than 21 years’ experience across property, liability, motor, travel, product and regulatory matters. His expertise includes insurer-side advisory and litigation work, policy interpretation, coverage and indemnity disputes, fraud investigations, complex recoveries, demurrage and quantum claims, claims strategy, dispute resolution and regulatory compliance.
He acts for leading general insurers and self-insured organisations across multiple Australian jurisdictions. Peter works closely with claims professionals, technical specialists, senior decision-makers and in-house legal teams throughout the lifecycle of a claim, including on test cases involving difficult questions of liability, quantum and claims management.
Peter’s private practice experience is complemented by senior in-house experience with CommInsure’s general insurance business. This gives him first-hand insight into insurer decision-making and the need to balance legal strategy, cost, customer considerations and commercial objectives. He has supported one of Australia’s largest general insurers since 2005, including in test cases involving complex demurrage and quantum issues.
