Miriam is a Partner in Turks’ Employers Liability team, based in the Newcastle office.

Miriam has over 20 years’ experience practising exclusively in statutory workers compensation claims and work injury damages. She has worked through multiple periods of legislative reform and brings a deep, practical understanding of the statutory compensation framework and its ongoing evolution. She is highly experienced in navigating complex statutory schemes and developing pragmatic strategies that balance effective claim resolution with risk and exposure management.

Miriam acts for insurers, self insured organisations and employers across New South Wales. Her experience is particularly valued by sophisticated clients who benefit from her practical, strategic and whole of business approach to claims management.

She regularly appears before the Personal Injury Commission of New South Wales and is trusted to manage both complex and high volume matters while maintaining quality, consistency and timeliness of outcomes. Miriam also works closely with colleagues across practice areas to deliver coordinated resolutions where statutory, work injury damages and related employment issues intersect.

Market Engagement & Recognition

Miriam regularly presents at industry events and delivers training to insurer, employer and broker audiences on statutory compensation law, emerging risks and claims trends. She is frequently engaged to share insights developed through hands on portfolio management and litigation experience.

Miriam is an active member of Hunter Women in Insurance and a member of the Law Society of New South Wales.
