Janet is a Senior Associate in Turks’ General Insurance team, based in the Brisbane office.
Janet has 13 years’ experience in complex liability claims and litigation. Her expertise includes personal injury and property damage claims, indemnity, quantum and causation disputes, property damage recoveries and matters involving contested expert and circumstantial evidence. She also advises on contractual, operational and commercial disputes and develops early strategies for resolving technically complex claims.
She acts for general insurers, self-insured organisations and commercial operators, including construction contractors, logistics providers, ports and terminals. Janet works closely with claims professionals, legal teams and commercial stakeholders to provide early merits assessments and clear advice on prospects, cost exposure, timing and resolution pathways. Her experience spans Queensland State and Federal jurisdictions.
Janet regularly represents clients in mediation and other alternative dispute resolution processes and is known for her pragmatic and clear approach to high-pressure disputes. She was involved in a successful High Court appeal concerning conflicting circumstantial and expert evidence on liability, in which the Court unanimously overturned the lower courts’ decisions.

Janet serves as Treasurer of the Queensland Claims Discussion Group, which delivers regular educational seminars and networking functions for insurance claims professionals in Queensland. She is also a member of Women in Insurance Queensland and Australian Insurance Law Association and regularly participates in their professional development and networking opportunities.
