At Turks, we recruit Graduate Lawyers throughout the year across our offices and practice areas as opportunities arise.
We offer two pathways for graduates joining Turks. Our Permanent Graduate Lawyer opportunities are designed for graduates who are ready to establish themselves within a specific practice area and begin building long-term expertise. We also offer our Graduate Rotation Program, which provides the opportunity to gain experience across multiple practice groups before choosing an area of specialisation.

Our Graduate Rotation Program has been a cornerstone of our early careers pathway for more than 10 years, helping aspiring lawyers build strong foundations and successful careers. Over 12 months, you'll rotate through three of our four practice groups, gaining meaningful exposure to different areas of law, diverse clients and complex matters.
With dedicated time in each rotation, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a practice area, develop practical legal skills and gain a genuine understanding of where your interests and strengths align. Working alongside experienced lawyers and partners, you'll take on meaningful work, gain direct client exposure and learn from experts at the top of their field. Through mentoring, hands-on experience and ongoing support, you'll build the technical and professional skills needed to succeed in your legal career.

More than 90% of our graduates continue their careers with Turks, with many progressing into permanent Graduate Lawyer positions and further developing their expertise within the firm. We recruit all year round as opportunities become available! We always have a rotating graduate in each practice group in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, therefore as graduates are offered permanent positions within our team, we will recruit for another rotating grad. Depending on your office location, you may have the opportunity to rotate through a number of our practice groups:
Sydney: Three rotations across our practice groups. Available rotations may vary from year to year, and your preferences will be considered when allocating rotations.
Brisbane: Rotations in Commercial and General Insurance.
Melbourne: Rotations in General Insurance, Commercial, and Life Insurance & Superannuation.
Our Commercial team acts for businesses, lenders, government agencies and insolvency practitioners across a broad range of commercial matters. We help clients manage risk, resolve disputes and navigate commercial opportunities through our expertise in banking and finance, insolvency and debt recovery, commercial disputes, property, regulatory matters and business transactions. Our Employers Liability team acts for insurers, employers and government agencies on workers compensation, work injury damages, recoveries and employment-related matters. Our Life Insurance & Superannuation team acts for many of Australia's major life insurers, superannuation trustees and financial services providers. We advise on claims, disputes, governance, products and regulatory matters, helping clients navigate complex legal and commercial issues while delivering positive outcomes for policyholders and fund members. Our General Insurance team acts for insurers and self-insured organisations across a broad range of claims, disputes and advisory matters. Our work spans property, liability, motor, marine, travel, fraud and recoveries, as well as regulatory and compliance advice, helping clients manage risk and achieve practical commercial outcomes.
