The firm passed a significant milestone over the Christmas break with the retirement of Peter Turk from our partnership on 31 December 2016. Peter founded the firm and has successfully led it since 1981. Peter’s down to earth, open, accountable and courageous approach to legal practice will continue to be a part of our unique culture, practiced every day in the values of our firm. Our focus is on continuing the success of the firm, building on our unique characteristics to deliver even more value to our clients.

Following Peter’s departure, Pieter Oomens has taken over the reins as Managing Partner. Pieter joined TurksLegal in 1981 and was previously the head of our Commercial Disputes & Transactions Group. Alongside his role as our firm’s Managing Partner, Pieter continues to work closely with our Commercial Disputes & Transactions lawyers sharing his extensive experience in this area.

There have also been some additional changes to the firm’s management structure.

The new management structure is led by an expanded Board, and we are pleased to announce that Adele Fletcher, Michael Adie, Lisa Morrissey and Darryl Pereira have joined this chief governing body. John Myatt takes on the role of Chairman of our Board while continuing his present role as Head of Insurance & Financial Services. We are also very pleased to announce that Daniel Turk will be assuming Pieter’s former role as Head of Practice for Commercial Disputes and Transactions.

This is an exciting time of evolution for the firm which we believe will help us to partner with our clients even more effectively.
